Number of conjugated verbs in a spanish sentence?

What are the rules on conjugating verbs in a sentence. I know one cant be conjugated after another, but what if there is a conjunction? For example, Mi familia tejana sabe mucho de la historia de Texas y ellos (conocen or concer)?
