Sirius satellite radio inside the home?

I just got a sirius satellite radio for christmas and my parents said that they will buy me a subscription when i get my license and i can use it (2-3 months). However, later that day i was discussing with my mother about how i could use it in the house, and she said never mind shell buy me the subscription now. My father then pointed out that the radio had to be run off of twelve volt power(same power a car uses), I then went online and found you can use this in the home with a sirius boom box which costs $100. I can afford this boom box, however i would prefer not to spend this much money trying to get my radio to work. My question, is asking if there are any ways i can get my radio to play off a regular stereo, or is there a cheaper alternative to buying the sirius boom box that is just as efficient?
