Does or did your 10 month old hit? How did you deal with it?

My daughter will be 10months old tommorrow and she is quite a handful now-a-days. She has begun throwing fits literally. Yesterday she wanted the spoon when I was feeding her lunch and when i didn't give it to her she threw her head back in her high chair and kicked her legs... and she does this high pitched scream if you don't pick her up when she wants picked up or if you don't give her what she wants and when i try to lay her down to change her diaper its like wrestling an alligator...She always gets rashes anymore because putting cream on just doesn't happen...How can I get her to lay still? I've tried giving her a toy or what not to look at and she just throws it and the fight begins..She is also smacking in the face, pinching and scratching and when i tell her "no" she just laughs and does it more and more..I saThen when I put her down because she won't stop she does her high pitched scream. I am at a loss of what to do. I don't want to smack her hands but I'm beginning to feel as if that might be the only option left. Any suggestions will be greatly, greatly appreciated. She has started doing the whole face smacking thing to just about anyone who picks her up..
