Christians, is it possible that Jesus was illiterate?

It is possible, but rather unlikely. Many people in the ancient world were illiterate. However, Judaism has always had a strong emphasis religious education. Jesus is portrayed as being quite aware of Scripture, and it is unlikely that he would've been permitted to teach in the synagogue without being at least nominally literate.
